Attractions

There are too many very nearby places of historical interest, musea, movietheaters, cafe's, restaurants and bars to name them all here!

1. Some easy walks

Rijksmuseum, van Goghmuseum, Concertgebouw, Anne Frank-Huis, the 9 little streets (shopping), Amsterdam Historical Museum (nice also for children), the flowermarket, the Towntheatre, the Vondelpark, the Northern Market (on Saturday morning), the fleamarket at Waterloo Square, Heineken Experience, or the Holland Casino.

2. Biketrips

Many of our guests use our two bikes (one female, one male) which are for hire in front of your entrance on the canal. You can see the whole city at your own leisure, and watch its life and get to archtectural or cultural points of interest with ease and fun. Some of which you might otherwise not see: the medieval town and its small canals, streets with "Amsterdamse School", tour around the Ijsselmeer on a "dijk" with pretty fishervillages such as the sailing harbours Durgerdam or Monnickendam, the new brilliant Muziekgebouw an het Ij, or life in the Jordaan. Plenty of maps and suggestions in the apartment.

3. Some pleasant trips from the Leidsegracht

to other worthwhile towns in Holland: Within the hour you are in Delft (Delft's Blue), The Hague (the charming Binnenhof, government), Utrecht (Old Music Festival end of August/beg. of September), Gouda (cheese market), Haarlem (Frans Hals en Teyler's Museum), Leiden (oldest university and spectacular churches) or in one of the lovely villages at the Ijsselsea, such as Marken or Durgerdam. It takes just under an hour to the North Sea beach: Castricum or Bloemendaal is only about half an hour by train.
